General Condition:

  • Ph. D degree in relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years‟ experience. Candidates with Ph.D. degree will be preferred for direct recruitment.
  • Candidates called for personal discussion will be paid a 2nd Class rail fare by the shortest route,subject to production of documents alongwith proof of travel. Local transportation charges shall however be borne by the candidates themselves.
  • The post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.

Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the conditions that a „No Objection Certificate‟ from the employer is produced at the time of written test / personal discussion.   • Unsigned/incomplete applications or applications without supportive evidence, without application fee (in the form of Demand Draft), applications received late, shall be summarily rejected.
  • ICMR-NIN, Hyderabad will not be responsible for any postal delay/wrong delivery.
  • Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the written test, the applications fulfilling essential qualification and experience will be shortlisted. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for written test and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  • Date of written test / personal discussion will be communicated to the eligible candidates through call letters only and no enquiry in this regard will be entertained.
  • No TA will be admissible to attend the written test.
  • Canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection / recruitment shall be treated as disqualification.

  • The applications received will be screened at Level-1 by a Screening Committee as per the criteria adopted by ICMR. The candidates found eligible on the basis of the recommendation of Level-1 screening committee will be invited to appear for the written examination (objective type).
  • The candidates will be called for personal discussion / interview (as per the rules of the ICMR) on the basis of merit of the marks obtained in the written test and CV scrutiny i.e., marks for publication, experience, awards, etc. The final decision for selection will be based on the criteria
    adopted by ICMR
  • The written test would be of 100 marks consisting of 100 objective/ MCQ type questions of one mark each for the correct answer. The final score will be computed for a maximum of 40 marks based on the marks obtained in the written test of 100 marks.For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Out of 100 questions, 90 questions will be objective/ MCQ type and 10 objective/ MCQ for analytical skills.
  • Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees five Hundred only) payable in favour of “The Director, NIN, Hyderabad” should be enclosed alongwith application and should reach to this office on or before closing date. The SC/ST/Women/physically handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application
    fee. All other / ICMR employees are not exempted from the payment of application fee.
  • On the over leaf of demand Draft, the candidate must mention his/her name and post applied.
  • Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Any other mode of payment viz. cash, money order and cheque will not be accepted.
  • Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above mentioned pay scale
  • Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 1.1.2004.

  • National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a “Deficiency Disease Enquiry” and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged “Nutrition Research Laboratories” (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.
  • NIN has attained global recognition for its pioneering studies on various aspects of nutrition research, with special reference to protein energy malnutrition (PEM). Institute’s activities are broad-based, encompassing the whole area of food and nutrition. The Institute has achieved close integration in its research activities between the laboratory, the clinic and the community.
  • The emphasis shifted to problem-oriented research, with a view to discovering practical solutions to nutrition problems that can be applied within the existing socio-economic framework. National Institute of Nutrition, over the eighty years of glorious service to the nation, has to its credit an impressive record of achievements in the amelioration of several nutritional disorders of our people.
  • The Institute is located on the salubrious campus of Osmania University with spacious buildings surrounded by lush green vegetation.   • The Institute’s library, well stocked with books and journals is considered as one of the best science libraries in India. In addition, computer facilities are available for sophisticated data analysis and information retrieval from database.
  • The “Nutrition Museum” of the institute is an important teaching tool which highlights different aspects of food and nutrition and also covers the work undertaken at the Institute.
