General Information:

  • A consolidated amount of Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees Twenty five thousand only) p.m. will be paid to the selected Young Professional – I (YP-I).
  • Age Limit: 21 to 45 years with relaxation as per rules for reserved candidates.
  • The engagement will be for one year, extendable for two more years (01 year at a time) subject to requirement of the services of the Young Professional in the organization and satisfactory performance of the candidate after evaluation by Director ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai. Thus maximum duration of engagement of YP in the ICAR is three years (1+1+1).
  • She/He will be posted at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai.
  • Candidates who are already employed in Govt. Organization should produce “No Objection Certificate” from the present employer.
  • No T.A. / D.A. will be paid for appearing in the interview.
  • Interested candidates may appear for the Interview, alongwith typed application for the position applied for, addressed to the Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai and detailed bio-data affixed with recent passport size photograph of the candidate and self-attested photocopies of certificates in support of age,qualifications, experience, testimonials and other credentials.
  • Candidates must also bring all the original experience/testimonials in support of age, qualifications, experiences etc.
  • Canvassing in any form will liable to disqualify the candidature. The Director’s decision will be final & binding in all respect.
  • TA/DA will be admissible to YPs for undertaking domestic tour for official work as per ICAR Rules.
  • The income tax or any other tax liable to be deducted as per the prevailing rules will be deducted at source before effecting payment of monthly salary.
  • The working hours for the YPs will be same as regular employees of ICAR. No extra benefit will be allowed for working beyond office hours. Unauthorized absence from the project/work for a continuous period of 08 days without valid reasons shall lead to automatic termination of the engagement.
  • The YPs are eligible for 08 days leave in calendar year on pro-rata basis and 02 restricted holidays as per the rules of Govt. of India/ICAR. Intervening weekly holidays or gazette holidays during as spell of leaves should not be counted against the admissible leaves. The un-availed leaves will not be carried forward to next calendar year. In addition to this YPs may also be allowed compensatory leave in lieu of the duty assigned on holidays but not more than 02 leaves can accrue in a month. The compensatory leaves can be accumulated only up to 05 days at a time and the YPs may be allowed to avail the same within 03 months. Female YPs will be entitled to maternity leave as per provision in the Maternity Benefit (Amendment)
    Act 2017. However, there will be no paternity leave for male YPs.
  • The young professional-I (YP-I) shall be subject to the laws of secrecy of the country and will sign a declaration of secrecy and Non-Disclosure Agreement before reporting (Annexure-I).
  • The engagement will not constitute a regular job or appointment of any nature in the ICAR.
  • During the term of engagement the YPs shall comply with the Standards of Conduct. Failure to comply with the same will become a ground for termination of the YPs without notice.

  • ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT) is one of the premier constituent institutes of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Under ICAR organisational set up, CIRCOT comes under Agricultural Engineering Division of ICAR.
  • ICAR-CIRCOT was established in the year 1924 by the then Indian Central Cotton Committee (ICCC) under the name of Technological Laboratory (TL) with the twin objective of assisting cotton breeders in the development of new strains by evaluating various fibre quality parameters and carrying out research on their spinning potential.
  • In 1966, the administrative control was transferred to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the name of the Institute was changed to Cotton Technological Research Laboratory (CTRL). The mandate for research and development widened to all aspects of post-harvest technology of cotton and value addition to cotton by-products and processing of wastes. Later from 1st April 1991, the Institute was renamed as Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT). The Institute has been providing yeomen service to the trade and industry during its long sojourn of nine decades by imparting training on cotton quality evaluation and ginning and also by offering the quality assessment support for fibre, yarn and fabrics on commercial terms.
  • CIRCOT has served the cotton community over the nine long decades since its inception, by reorienting itself to suit the changing needs of its stakeholders. CIRCOT has spearheaded and sustained the research and development of technologies and machineries for the postharvest processing of cotton. The Institute is widely recognized for its contribution in testing, standardization and development of test methods for different types of textile materials. Presently, CIRCOT has diversified its expertise to research in utilization of other natural fibres like Banana and Coconut for technical applications, and has also started pioneering work in nonwoven technology, natural fibre based composites. CIRCOT has forayed into field of nanotechnology, plasma technology and is researching to develop environment-friendly textile processes using these break-through technologies. CIRCOT is fully aware of its strategic role in transferring the developed technologies timely to the stakeholders. It has set up a vibrant and active Business Promotion and Development (BPD) Unit which is also providing incubation facilities to potential entrepreneurs along with transferring of technology through various methods.
  • The Institute headquarters is located in the heart of the city of Mumbai at Matunga. The Institute has four major research divisions namely Mechanical Processing Division (MPD), Quality Evaluation and Improvement Division (QEID), Chemical and Biochemical Processing Division (CBPD) and Transfer of Technology Division (TTD. The ginning training centre (GTC) of CIRCOT located in Nagpur serve the ginning industry by training gin fitters and technicians employed in ginning-pressing units dispersed all over India. In addition to training, this centre offers technical consultancy services to gin manufacturers. There are five more Regional units of institute located at Coimbatore, Guntur, Dharwad, Surat and Sirsa.
