General Information:

  • Applications are invited for the posts of Research Fellows and Jr. Research Fellows on contractual basis for a period of six months likely to be extended based on candidate’s performance review and Project Scheme/Centre’s requirements.   • Applications are invited from Indian young dynamic eligible candidates who have passion for innovation and work with contemporary technologies such as application of Space and Geospatial and development of ICT tools for the welfare of people of state. Selection by short listing of candidates and through Written/Practical and Skill Test purely on contractual basis for the posts of Junior Research Fellow/Research Fellows (as per detailed advertisement) for a period of six months or specified against item/post likely to be extended further based on candidate’s satisfactory performance review and Project Scheme/Centres requirements. The selected candidates shall be posted at any locations (Ludhiana, Chandigarh, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and anywhere in Punjab) as per the requirements. The shortlisted candidate will be informed by email or mobile as given in the applications before written test. However, PRSC cannot take any responsibility in case either of it may be non reachable or contactable for

  • Shortlisted eligible candidates shall be intimated for appearing online written test/interview before the date of online written test.

  • Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Punjab, is the apex body in the state for all Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) and related works. It is designated as a Nodal Agency by the Govt. of Punjab for geospatial needs of the state and also acts as the centralized hub for the geo-spatial data to all the user departments.
  • PRSC has been setup under the umbrella of National Natural Resources Information System (NNRMS) under the technical guidance of ISRO NNRMS.
  • A unique system called National Natural Resources Information System (NNRMS) has been set up to optimally manage country’s natural resources using Remote Sensing and conventional techniques. State level Remote Sensing Application Centres (SRSAC) have been set up under the technical guidance of ISRO NNRMS to carry out Remote Sensing application projects for their particular state/region. Under the aegis of NNRMS, large number of projects have been carried out by ISRO and SRSACs at National/Regional/Local levels. Particularly, ISRO DOS has taken specific initiatives through respective State/Governments to see that necessary manpower and infrastructure is established to use space technology at State level. This has helped many States to establish State Remote Sensing Application Centres which cater to all natural resources related applications for developmental purposes.
  • To undertake, promote, guide, co-ordinate and aid research and development in the field of remote sensing.
  • To carry out surveys for monitoring and assessment of the entire gamut of natural resources using remote sensing techniques.
  • To carry out special temporal surveys to monitor changing land use and soil patterns, environment, irrigation systems, forest resources, agricultural resources, ground water resources and crop disease surveillance.
  • To develop efficient data acquisition and retrieval system and to act as repository (data bank) of various natural resources data.
  • To provide consultancy services and arrange airborne survey facilities to user agencies on actual cost basis.
  • To act as a nodal organization in respect of formulation and execution of projects on natural resource mapping and monitoring using remote sensing technology.
  • To provide research and developmental support to the teaching and research organizations of the state in specified areas of remote sensing technology.
