General Information:

  • UR-unreserved, SC- Scheduled Caste, ST-Scheduled Tribe, OBC- Other Backward Classes, ESM-Ex-Servicemen, PH-Physically Handicapped ( VH-Visually Handicapped, HHHearing Handicapped & OH-Orthopedically Handicapped) and EWS-Economically Weaker Sections.
  • 03 years for OBC, 05 years for SC/ST & 10 years for the candidates belonging to Physically Handicapped. (Additional 05 years in case of Physically
    Handicapped belonging to SC & ST and 03 years for OBC category)
  • Ex-servicemen who have rendered not less than 06 months of continuous service in the Armed Forces shall be allowed to deduct the full
    period of such service from their actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum age by more than three years, they shall be deemed to be within age limits.
  • candidates applying against unreserved post are not entitled to any relaxation in age limit, experience etc.
  • It is clarified that unreserved vacancy can be filled by a candidate belonging to any category viz SC/ST/OBC/PH provided that the candidate is selected on own merit but they are not entitled for any relaxation in age limit.
  • The crucial date for determining age limit hall be the last date for receipt of application.
  • Liable to serve anywhere in India including field area.
  • For Women Candidates : Widows, divorced woman and woman judicially separated from their husbands and who are not remarried are allowed age concession up to the age of 35 years (40 years for member of SCs/STs).
  • 40 yrs for UR (General Candidates), 43 yrs for OBC & 45 yrs for SC/ST.
  • Application without details / copies of certificate etc will be rejected summarily and no further correspondence will be entertained. Decision of the Board of Officers will be final.
  • Application received after due date will not be considered.
  • The date/ time and place of exam will be intimated by post to eligible candidates. The Organization will not be responsible for any kind of postal delay.
  • SC/ST and disabled ex-servicemen candidates attending for written examination for reserve category are eligible for 2nd class rail fares.

How to Apply:

  • Eligible candidate can apply to any of the above Air Force Station of their choice subject to the vacancies and qualifications. Application duly typed in English/Hindi as per the format given below duly completed with recent passport size photo graph duly attested by self pasted thereon are to be submitted by the candidates to the address as mentioned at para- 2above. Applicants to mention clearly on the envelope “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF……AND CATEGORY………”. The application is to be accompanied with self addressed envelope with Rs. 10 postage stamp duly affixed.
  • Last date of receipt of application is 30 days from the date of advertisement in Employment News.
  • All documents in support of Education Qualification, Age, Domicile certificate, experience and caste certificate etc duly self attested are to annexed with the application.
  • In case of OBC candidates applying for reserved quota, their caste should be listed under the Central List of OBCs.
  • The ex-serviceman is to submit a copy of discharge book duly self attested along with the application. The selected ESM will be adjusted against the respective category viz SC/ST/OBC/UR.

Selection Process:

  • All application are scrutinized in terms of age limit, minimum qualification, documents and certificates. Thereafter eligible candidates will be issued call letter for written test.
  • The eligible candidates will be required to appear for written test. The written test will be based on minimum educational qualification.
  • The written test will consists of (i) General Intelligence & Reasoning (ii) Numerical Aptitude (iii) General English (iv) General Awareness.
  • The question cum answer paper will be in English and Hindi.
  • The requisite number of candidates will be short listed and called for skill /practical/physical test wherever applicable based on merit/category in the written test.
  • Short listed candidates are to bring original certificates, copies of which were annexed with the application.
  • C Adm O / Adjt of the respective AF Station has the right to reject any application without assigning any reason. Similarly, HQ SWAC, IAF has right to change the number of vacancies / reservation status at any AF Station under the Command at any time before selection.

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. There is never more than one serving ACM at any given time in the IAF. The rank of Marshal of the Air Force has been conferred by the President of India on one occasion in history, to Arjan Singh. On 26 January 2002, Singh became the first and so far, only five-star rank officer of the IAF.
  • Defence of India and every part there of including preparation for defence and all such acts as may be conducive in times of war to its prosecution and after its termination to effective demobilisation.
  • The Indian Air Force was established on 8 October 1932 in British India as an auxiliary air force of the Royal Air Force. The enactment of the Indian Air Force Act 1932 stipulated out their auxiliary status and enforced the adoption of the Royal Air Force uniforms, badges, brevets and insignia.On 1 April 1933, the IAF commissioned its first squadron, No.1 Squadron, with four Westland Wapiti biplanes and five Indian pilots. The Indian pilots were led by British RAF Commanding officer Flight Lieutenant (later Air Vice Marshal) Cecil Bouchier.
