General Instruction:

  • The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites application for engaging Technical Assistant (02) under the project “A Study for assessing the functioning and efficacy of Tiger Conservation Foundations (TCFs)” purely on Contractual basis for a period of six months through Walk-in-Interview on 08.01.2021. The EQ, DQ and other details of the positions are as provided below:
  • Upper age limit in case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories may be relaxed as per the government rules.
  • The candidate should send duly filled application form (Annexure-1) to the Registrar, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehra Dun, 248002 by 30th December. The Selection will be on the basis of interview. The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee.
  • Application form should be in the prescribed format, with self- attested copies of documents on educational qualifications, extracurricular activities, date of birth, mark sheets of all examinations, community certificate (if sought relaxation as per Government of India rules),etc.
  • The Date of Interview will be 8th January 2021.
  • If selected, then the candidate will have to provide original documents for verification at the time of joining.
  • At the time of the verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such application will be rejected, and due action will be taken against the candidate.

The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues.
  • The Institute’s idyllic campus that has been carefully developed to create state of the art infrastructure encourages scholarly work.
  • On the occasion of Geography Awareness week, GIS day was celebrated in the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) campus on 22th November, 2020 as a one-day online workshop on RS-GIS and cartography. Seventy researchers of the institute participated in the virtual workshop.
  • Dr. Gautam Talukdar welcomed all the participants and spoke about the importance and purpose of celebrating GIS Day. The full day program consisted of a total six different sessions on theories and applications of Remote Sensing and GIS. These sessions covered topics on WII GIS lab and data accessibility, a demonstration of GIS analytics tools on open-GIS platform, basic cartography skills, enhancing GIS outputs through graphic designing, Google Earth Engine, Basics of RS-GIS and its applications in conservation research and management carried out through the institute, and available open-access RS-GIS datasets. In the afternoon session, fourteen researchers presented lightning talks on their RS-GIS based research works. Fun games like, short quizzes and virtual treasure hunts were also organized for the participants to make the event more interactive and a map contest was declared open. The workshop concluded with Director’s closing remarks followed by a vote of thanks.
  • The institute is based in Dehradun, India. It is located in Chandrabani, which is close to the southern forests of Dehradun. The campus is 180 acre’s, from which 100 acre’s is in wilderness and 80 acre’s is operational facilities. It is close to Rajaji National Park. The training of the direct recruits of the India Forest Service Officers and also those who are recruited as the State Forest Officers is done here itself.
  • The current director of Wildlife Institute of India is Dhananjai Mohan who was appointed in December 2019. He was formerly Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Planning and Financial Management and Chairman of State Biodiversity Board in Uttarakhand.
