The North Central Railway (NCR), one of the 19 railway zones in India, has announced a recruitment drive for Scouts & Guides Quota. The NCR, headquartered at Prayagraj, comprises three divisions: Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra, and is inviting applications from eligible candidates to fill various posts under the Scouts & Guides Quota. Vacancy Details

The North Central Railway is seeking to fill various posts under the Scouts & Guides Quota. The details of the vacancies are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Scouts & Guides Quota, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification:

• For Pay Matrix Level – 2 (Grade Pay Rs. 1900/-): Intermediate or equivalent examination passed with 50% aggregate from any recognized Board/University.
• For Pay Matrix Level – 1 (Grade Pay Rs. 1800/-): 10th pass from any recognized Board or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Scouts & Guides Qualification:

• A President’s Scout/Guide/Ranger/Rover OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) Holder in any section.
• Should have been an active member of a Scouts organization for at least 5 years.
• Should have attended two events at National level OR All India Railways’ level AND Two events at State level.

Application Process

Candidates can apply online through the website of Railway Recruitment Cell, Prayagraj (www.rrcpryj.org). The application process involves the following steps:

1. Register online and obtain a Registration Number.
2. Fill in the online application form and upload the required documents.
3. Pay the examination fee online using internet banking or debit/credit cards.
4. Submit the online application and take a printout of the acknowledgement slip.

The examination fee for all candidates except those mentioned in Para 8.2 is Rs. 500/- (Rupee Five Hundred Only), with a provision for refunding Rs. 400/- to those who actually appear in the written examination. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Transgender/Women, Minorities, and Economic Backward Classes, the examination fee is Rs 250 (Rupee Two Hundred Fifty Only), with a provision for refunding the same (deducting bank charges as applicable) to those who actually appear in the written examination.

Important Dates

The important dates for the recruitment drive are as follows:

• Date of publication of notification: 18.09.2025
• Opening date of online application: 19.09.2025
• Closing date and time of online application: 18.10.2025 @ 23.59 hrs.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Scouts & Guides Quota involves a written test and marks on certificates. The written test will consist of 40 objective questions (40 marks) & 1 essay type question (20 marks), in bi-lingual format, relating to Scouts and Guides Organization and its activities and General Knowledge. The examination for Pay Rs. 1900/- (Pay Matrix Level – 02) and Grade Pay Rs. 1800/- (Pay Matrix Level – 01) will be separate and having negative marking in the written test and 1/3rd of marks allotted for the Objective Type Question will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Candidates who apply in response to the notification and are found eligible for consideration for appointment against Scouts & Guides quota, shall be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

• Written Test: 60 Marks
• Marks on Certificates: 40 Marks

Documents to be Uploaded

Candidates are required to upload the following documents:

• Scanned copy of certificate for proof of Date of Birth (Standard 10th /Matriculation Certificate/ Equivalent Educational Certificate / Educational Certificate indicating date of birth)/ Birth certificate in prescribed format issued by competent authority.
• Scanned copy of Essential Minimum Prescribed Education Qualification mark sheet/certificate or its equivalent as prescribed in para 2 of the Notification.
• Certificate regarding President Scout/Guide/Ranger/Rover OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) Holder in any section.
• Copy of certificate of two events at National level OR All Indian Railways’ level.
• Copy of certificate of two events at State level.
• Copy of certificate regarding active member of a Scouts organization for at least 5 years.
• Certificate of Activeness in the prescribed format (Annexure-G).
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by their employer in case of serving employee.
• Caste certificate on the prescribed format for recruitment in Central Government services issued by the competent authority in the case of SC/ST/OBC.

General Instructions

Candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully before submitting their online application. The following general instructions must be noted:

• Candidates must ensure their eligibility before applying.
• Candidates must have the requisite Educational/Technical & Scout and Guide qualifications from the recognized Board Government University/ Institute/NCVT/SCVT as on the date of submission of the application.
• Candidates who have been debarred for life from all RRB/RRC examinations or candidates who have been debarred for a specified period which is not yet completed need not apply.
• Selection by RRC does not confer upon candidate any right of Appointment in the Railway.
• Selected candidates will have to undergo training wherever training is prescribed for the post.
