General Information:

  • NATIONAL BRAIN RESEARCH CENTRE (NBRC) invites application for the position of “Clinical Coordinator (Project)” in a DBT funded project titled “Novel Imaging Diagnostics for Alzheimer’s Diseases”.
  • Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Coordinator (Project) in the laboratory of Prof. Pravat K. Mandal at National Brain Research Centre, Manesar, India. The primary scientific interest of the lab is to identify early in vivo biomarkers for neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. The lab is mainly specialized to uses multi-modal neuroimaging techniques, i.e. magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and MEG data to investigate the associated structural, functional,and neurochemical brain alterations, respectively.   • The National Brain Research Centre is a neuroscience research group, situated in Manesar, Gurgaon district, Haryana, India. It is an Autonomous Government Institute accredited with the deemed university status and is a nodal centre under Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
  • NBRC was established on 14 November 1997.It was dedicated to the Nation on 16 December 2003 by the then President of India Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
  • The centre is dedicated to provide infrastructural facilities and a coordinated multidisciplinary team to work at the frontiers of neuroscience research and network the existing groups and whenever required, create satellite units to catalyse the overall growth of this discipline in the country.   • Research carried out at NBRC encompasses breadth of neuroscience from Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, Developmental Neuroscience, Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience to Computational Neuroscience and Brain Imaging. List of scientific facilities available at NBRC includes DNA Sequencing, DNA Microarray, Whole-cell Intracellular and Extracellular Physiological Recording, state-of-the-art (3T Philips scanner) Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MR Spectroscopy (MRS) and functional MRI (3T).NBRC ranks first in India in number of publications in Basic Neuroscience during 2006–10.The Indian Brain Template, Brahma is developed and it is published in the Magnetic Resonance imaging journal. It is now also shown that Brain Glutathione (closed form) is the diagnostic Biomarker for Alzheimer’s Disease and published in Biological Psychiatry journal. BIG data analytics “BHARAT” is in operation for Early Diagnostic Biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease from Multi-modal data. State-of-the-art Brain Signal Processing package “KALPANA” is now developed and available to use for academic research.
  • Besides research, the centre provides a national level nucleus for comprehensive training and teaching in diverse fields of neurosciences.As a Deemed University, the centre offers post-graduate degree courses in neuroscience. Currently, it offers MSc/an Integrated PhD (MSc + PhD)/PhD program in neuroscience. These programs aim to develop a solid foundation in the basic areas of neuroscience in an inter-disciplinary manner and to expose the students to the latest research techniques in different areas.It has an MoU with IIT Delhi for running joint PhD programs.
