General Information:

  • Candidates must be Indian Nationals.
  • Candidates who satisfy the prescribed qualification to the respective posts should undergo a selection process viz. written examination / written test and skill test to the respective posts. Based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the Written examination / written test and skill test, the provisional list of eligible candidates will be hosted in the TANUVAS website www.tanuvas.ac.in . The eligible candidates in the order of merit rank will be called for counseling in the ratio of 1:3.
  • Written examination (objective type) followed by counseling to the posts under Sl.Nos. 1 to 20 (except Sl.Nos.7 & 8).
  • The syllabus for the written examination for each post will be hosted in TANUVAS website www.tanuvas.ac.in shortly)
  • The University has the right to fill up more posts (or) not to fill up the posts now advertised.
  • Any attempt by the candidate either directly or indirectly to influence the Selection Committee or other authorities of the University will disqualify his/her candidature for the post.
  • The service conditions and other terms of appointment in the University are governed by the ASRR of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
  • Candidates selected for the posts shall be liable to be transferred to any other corresponding post within the jurisdiction of the University.
  • Selection of candidates already in employment will be subject to the employer’s agreement to relieve them.
  • The age of retirement is sixty years for Group-D categories and fifty eight years for other categories.
  • If a candidate is applying for more than a post, he/she should remit the registration fee to all the post(s) in a single payment and to furnish the details at appropriate column in each application. i.e. if applying for 2 posts should remit Rs.1000/-(other than SC/ST candidates) (or) 500/-(for SC/ST candidates only) and Rs.1500/- (other than SC/ST candidates) and Rs.750/- (for SC/ST candidates only) for 3 posts.
  • After scrutinizing process is over, the details of ineligible candidates, date / venue of examination for the eligible candidates will be hosted in official website www.tanuvas.ac.in . After examination, the details of date / venue of counseling and instructions to the qualified candidates will also be hosted in the above official website. No individual communication will be sent to the candidates under any circumstances. Hence, all the candidates are requested to watch the TANUVAS website for further process in this regard.

  • Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) is a veterinary university founded in 1989 in Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai, India. It is composed of the Madras Veterinary College,Vepery, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli ; Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu, Thanjavur and the Institute of Food and Dairy Technology, Koduvalli, Chennai-52. Research farms are for leprosy bacteria, for prawn and edible fish culture, and for animal feed safety.
  • The institution now operating as a university was established in 1876 and became a college in 1903, with 20 students at Dobbin Hall, Chennai. The three-year diploma course, Graduate of Madras Veterinary College, was then offered.
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu established the university on 20 September 1989 through the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Act, 1989 (Tamil Nadu Act 42 of 1989). Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (i.e., Madras Veterinary College, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal and Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi) formed the nucleus of university and the institutes became constituent colleges of the newly formed university.
  • The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University 92 overall in India and 65 among universities in 2018.
