  • Selected candidates will be under probation for one year and will be confirmed subject to satisfactory completion of the probation and other requirements as per rule.
  • Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for selection test and/or interview. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview/selection test to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualification and experience higher than those prescribed in this advertisement.
  • The Institute reserves the right to relax experience for persons with brilliant academic career, with specialized skills in exceptional cases, or in the case of persons already
    holding analogous positions in a Central Technical Institute / Central University / Central R&D institution.
  • The Institute reserves the right to offer a lower post including entry level post of the cadre to any candidate if sufficiently qualified and experienced candidates with commensurate performance in trade test and interview are not available at higher Pay Level.
  • Higher initial basic pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidate(s) with relevant experience.
  • A panel of eligible candidates shall be prepared as per recommendation of the Selection Committee and vacancies that arise within one year will be filled in sequence out of the panel.
  • The Institute reserves the right to rectify any discrepancy in the pay, Pay Level, etc., if found later on.
  • Application fee of ₹500/- is payable by UR (including EWS) and OBC male candidates only. No fee is payable by SC, ST, PWD and Female candidates.

  • National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NITR), formerly Regional Engineering College Rourkela (REC Rourkela), is a publicly funded premier institute of higher learning for engineering, science and technology located in the steel city of Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and has been recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. It is ranked 16 in the NIRF Rankings 2019 of Indian engineering universities.
  • NIT Rourkela was established as Regional Engineering College (REC) Rourkela on 15 August 1961. Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik provided the land for it, approximately 648 acres. Its foundation stone was laid by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. It was granted autonomy in 2002 and now functions independently under the Ministry of Human Resource Development,thus becoming one of the National Institutes of Technology.
  • During the Captainship of the Founding Director Prof. Sunil Kumar Sarangi, the institute was transformed to its current status, and now NIT Rourkela is well known for its research related activities in various fields of science and technology.
  • The institute is managed by a Board of Governors (BoG) created as per NIT Act of 2007. The Act is responsible for the overall superintendence, direction, and control of its affairs. The Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day affairs of the institute, and the director is the Principal Executive and Academic Officer. The BoG is assisted by the Senate, which frames the curriculum and conducts the examinations. The Senate also appoints advisory or expert committees to make recommendations to the BoG on academic matters related to various departments. The Building and Works Committee and the Finance Committee also assist the BoG.
  • The Institute has different departments, centers and technical service units (TSUs). Each department or centre is headed by a faculty member and each TSU is headed by a faculty member or an officer.
