General Conditions:

  • Applications are invited through Registered post upto 31.01.2021 from all the eligible candidates for the post of Office Assistant (Basic Service) by Direct Recruitment in Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board. Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format which can be downloaded from the website www.tnscb.org. Filled in Application must be sent to “The Chairman, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, No.5, Kamarajar Salai, Triplicane, Chennai – 600 005”. The candidates registered with Employment Exchange are also eligible to apply for the said post against the vacancies. The qualifications and other details of the post are as follows :-
  • The minimum age of all applicants as on 31.12.2020 should be 18 (eighteen) years of age. The maximum age is as follows.
  • 10 years age relaxation is available for Differently Abled Persons of all categories wherever maximum age limit is prescribed.
  • The candidates those who have not passed 8 th standard as on the cut – off date (i.e. 31.12.2020) are not eligible.
  • The Rule of Reservation of appointments, age relaxations, etc. will be as per the Government Rules in force.
  • The applicants are requested to read carefully the ‘Instructions to candidates’ before filling up the application. The ‘Instructions to candidates’ has been appended below the ‘Format for Application’ and is available in the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board website www.tnscb.org.
  • Candidates must be Indian Nationals.
  • The application form shall be filled–in complete in all respects, giving correct information, Defective and incomplete applications and those with wrong or false information will be summarily rejected.
  • Evidence of VIII passed Certificate and all other testimonials should be brought in original at the time of interview. Copies of Certificates, Mark Sheets, testimonials,etc., should be attached with the application duly self attested by the applicant.
  • Applications received after the last date (31.01.2021) will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates called for interview will not be paid any TA/DA.
  • This office reserves the right to fill or not to fill the post without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  • The third gender candidates have to produce the certificate issued by the Tamil Nadu Third Gender Welfare Board.
  • Two passport size photos (as affixed in the application form) must be brought at the time of interview.
  • The application form will be accepted only by Registered Post. The applications will be rejected when submitted in person / office.

  • Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board was established in September 1970 and has been implementing various Housing, Slum Development and Rehabilitation and Resettlement programmes to ameliorate the living conditions of the slum families in Tamil Nadu. The Board initially started its activities in Chennai and its activities were gradually extended to other urban areas of Tamil Nadu since 1984 onwards in phased manner.
  • The motto of Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board is “GOD WE SHALL SEE IN THE SMILE OF THE POOR“. The Board has been implementing various programmes like In-situ tenemental schemes, In-situ plotted and infrastructure development and Rehabilitation and Resettlement schemes to improve the environs of the slums and the living standards of the urban slum families to achieve the Slum Free Cities Vision before 2023.
  • The slum families are protected from calamities like fire, floods, etc.
  • Each tenement built will have a multipurpose room, bed room, kitchen, an independent toilet, with water supply and sewerage arrangements.
  • Paved access, street light, surface drain are provided.
  • These tenements are allotted to the slum families on a heavily subsidized hire purchase system, at the rate of Rs.250/- per month for a period of 20 years.
  • The slums located in unobjectionable areas, wherein equitable distribution of space to all is not feasible, are cleared and tenemental schemes put up.
  • His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru Banwarilal Purohit is the constitutional Head of the State. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K. Palaniswami is the Head of the elected Government and heads the Council of Ministers.
