General Conditions:
- Online applications are invited from the permanent residents of Assam for recruitment to the following Grade-III posts of 5 (Five) newly established Polytechnics to be made functional from August 2020 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.
- Candidates must be ready to serve in any of the Institutions under DTE.
- Candidates must not be less than 18 years and more than 38 years of age on 01.01.2020. However, the upper age limit is relaxable as per existing Govt. rules.
- There shall be usual reservation for SC/ST/STH/OBC/EWS Candidates including Women and PWDs (Person with disabilities) as per Govt. rules.
- Schedule and other details of written test shall be uploaded in www.dte.assam.gov.in
- The candidate must upload the scan copy of the proof of Permanent resident of Assam (Voter id or PRC), Qualifying examination, Age, Caste etc. along with recent passport size photograph and specimen signature at the time of online application.
- The candidate must produce the Original of all the documents mentioned in Sl. No.5 and submit self-attested copies of all the testimonials along with 3 (three) copies of self-attested recent Passport size photograph in due course of time which will be notified later in the Website.
- Applicants who are already employed must apply through their respective employer within the stipulated period mentioning the Unique Number generated against the submitted online application.
- No application either by Post or in Person shall be entertained by the office of the undersigned.
- Any change or amendment to this Advertisement will be posted on the above-mentioned website only.
- Incomplete / defective applications shall be rejected without giving any intimation to the Candidates/applicants.
- Submission of wrong/false information in the online application may lead to cancellation of candidature of the candidate at any stage of the selection process.

- Selection Process:
- Candidates may be Short Listed based on the overall academic records. In such a case only Short listed candidates will have to appear in the Written Test.
- Written Test & Computer Proficiency/Practical Test: Details of the written test & computer proficiency test will be uploaded in the website and will also be published in the News Paper.
- No T.A./D.A. shall be paid by the Department for attending Written test/ Computer Proficiency/Practical Test/Document verification.

- Technical Education in Assam started with the establishment of Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering & Technology at Jorhat before independence in 1927. Establishment of Assam Engineering Institute and later establishment of Assam Engineering College was the beginning of Technical Education in the State of Assam. It has been a long journey of evolution of State technical Education in the State of Assam. Directorate of Technical Education, Assam was established at 1960. Now there are 5 Govt. Engineering Colleges and 21 Polytechnic Institutions under this Directorate. In the Technical Education front, there has been phenomenal growth in the recent past. The first Engineering College – Assam Engineering College was established in 1956 at Guwahati and the first Diploma Institution. Assam Textile Institution was established in 1920 at Guwahati.
- Assam Engineering College, the first engineering college in the north-east India, was established in the year 1955. It is situated at Jalukbari in the south-west part of Guwahati, which is a landmark in the colourful and chequered history of Assam. Encircled by the Gauhati University on the north, the Deepor Beel on the south, the Government Ayurvedic College on the east and the Assam Police Radio Organisation on the west, Assam Engineering College not only provides an ideal context for learning but also creates a charming impingement on visitors. The campus is spread across 400 acres of land. The college started with the Civil Engineering department, and within a few years other engineering departments were started. Presently, it awards Bachelor in Engineering degrees in eight different engineering disciplines, Master in Engineering degrees in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Master in Computer Application degree. The college offers PhD programs under all departments. All the courses of AEC are affiliated to Gauhati University.
- Assam Engineering Institute, a premier technical institution of Assam was established in the year 1948. It is affiliated to the State Council for Technical Education. Its campus is located in Chandmari at the heart of Guwahati city. It is well connected to both the railway station (3 KM) and airport (28 KM). Moreover Guwahati is the gateway to the North-Eastern region of India, being well connected to all the other states like Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
- Nalbari Polytechnic is a Government diploma Institute located in the district of Nalbari, Assam, India. This Polytechnic Institute is located at Chandkuchi.
- Nalbari Polytechnic offers 3 years diploma courses that focus on imparting technical skill to students in a particular brach of Engineering. All the courses of this Institute are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
