General Conditions:

  • It must be ensured that Universities/Institutions offering programmes like B.Sc through Distance Education mode are recognized by Distance Education Bureau (DEB-UGC) and in case of Technical programmes, these programmes and institutes from which the qualification obtained are recognized by Apex Bodies in the country such as AICTE, NCTE, Ministry of HRD etc.
  • The vacancies are provisional and subject to variation. The filling up of vacancies indicated in the advertisement is also subject to the approval of Competent Authority and may not be filled up if decided otherwise in terms of the orders issued by Government from time to time.
  • Candidates empanelled under WAIT LIST will be offered appointment ONLY in case candidates in the MAIN LIST do not join.
  • The candidates will be given choice to answer the questions in written test/trade test/interview (as applicable) in Hindi or English.
  • All the eligibility criteria including the period of experience as prescribed in the advertisement will be determined with reference to the last date (20.05.2021) of receipt of applications.
  • SC/ST outstation candidates called for written test will be paid to and fro travelling allowance of secondclass Railway fare by the shortest route as per rules. However, Travelling Allowance is not admissible to those SC/ST candidates who are already in Central/State Government services, Central/State Government Corporation, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Government Institutions and Panchayats and the concession availed from Railways, if any, for undertaking journey for attending written test/Physical Assessment Test.

  • Candidates should declare their educational qualifications they have acquired other than the requisite qualifications as per this advertisement.

  • This Research Centre reserves the right to fill up the post or even to cancel/ restrict/ modify / alter the whole process of recruitment without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereof.
  • Posting of the selected candidates would be at the discretion of the Competent Authority as per the availability of vacancies. They are liable to serve in any part of India, in any constituent unit of the Department of Atomic Energy. Further, the duties may involve work in shifts, including round-the-clock shifts, field work and work in operational areas.
  • Candidates who have not acquired the requisite Educational qualification prescribed in the advertisement as on the last date of receipt of online application (20.05.2021) will not be eligible and need not apply.
  • In case Universities/Board award letter grades/CGPA/OGPA/SGPA, the same will have to be indicated as equivalent percentage of marks as per the norms adopted by that University/Board. In the absence of the same the candidature will not be considered. Candidates should be able to produce the proof of conversion from the respective institution at the time of document verification,
  • Candidates working under the Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies etc., are required to submit “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” at the time of written test/skill test/interview, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for the written test/skill test/interview.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS category should clearly indicate the same in the application (even when applying for UR vacancy) and should furnish proof of the same in the specified format at the time of written test/skill test/interview (as applicable) failing which they will be treated as Unreserved (UR) and subsequent representations for change of community status will not be entertained.

  • Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre is a premier R & D unit of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and one of the constituent institutions of Homi Bhabha National Institute. This Centre is dedicated to carry out frontier research and development in the fields of Accelerator Science & Technology, Nuclear Science (Theoretical and Experimental), Material Science, Computer Science & Technology and in other relevant areas.
  • The Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) is a research and development unit of the Department of Atomic Energy. The VECC is located in Kolkata, India and performs research in basic and applied nuclear sciences and development of the latest nuclear particle accelerators. It has a collaboration with the European Organization for Nuclear Research.The Centre houses a 224 cm cyclotron—the first of its kind in India—which has been operational since 16 June 1977. It provides proton, deuteron, alpha particle and heavy ion beams of various energies to other institutions.
  • The Centre consists of major facilities such as K130 Cyclotron, K500 Superconducting Cyclotron, Cyclone-30 Medical Cyclotron, Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) Facility, Computing Centre, Regional Radiation Medicine Centre and a new Campus for the proposed ANURIB project at New Town, Rajarhat. The ANURIB (Advanced National facility for Unstable & Rare-Isotope Beams) is a planned facility, to be constructed in collaboration with the Canada-based research institute TRIUMF.ANURIB is going to conduct experiments of unstable & rare isotope beams.
  • Dr. Sumit Som, Outstanding Scientist, has been appointed as Director, Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) with effect from 14th January,2020. He is an Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering graduate from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, under Calcutta University (presently known as, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur). He joined the 31st Batch of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School in 1987 and graduated successfully on completion of the one year Orientation Course for Engineering graduates and Science Post-graduates (OCES) in 1988. He then joined Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre as Scientific Officer-C in 1988 and subsequently acquired PhD in Engineering Sciences from Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai. He served as an Invited Foreign Researcher at High Energy Accelerator Organization, KEK, Japan, during 1998-1999 and involved with the development of Superconducting Crab cavity for KEK-B factory, an electron-positron collider at KEK. He also worked with RF system of K800 Superconducting Cyclotron at Laboratorio Del Sud (LNS), Instituto Nazionale Di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Catania, Italy, in 1995.
