  • CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad, is a premier R&D Institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes of both basic and applied in nature across scientific disciplines related to solid earth for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. The Institute is a Centre of Excellence carrying out multidisciplinary
    Earth Science research programs viz., Lithosphere and Geodynamics; Hydrocarbon, Mineral and Groundwater Exploration; Earthquake hazards; Computational Geophysics; Geology, Geochemistry and Geochronology; etc.
  • The applicant must be a Citizen of India.
  • The normal place of posting is CSIR-NGRI at Hyderabad. Job requirement includes extensive field surveys in different parts of the country. Apart from the above job requirement, a selected candidate, on the discretion of the Competent Authority, may be posted to work in any
    Section / Division and at any place in India.
  • All applicants must fulfil the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the essential qualifications laid down for various posts. No enquiry asking for
    advice on eligibility will be entertained. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for further recruitment process.
  • Preference will be given to the candidates involved in Product Development / Technology Innovation / Applied Technology / Translational Research etc.
  • All the qualifications/experience and other details of a candidate must be supported by valid documents. The prescribed qualifications must have been obtained through recognized Universities / Institutions etc.
  • In case of Universities/Institute awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their University/Institute.
  • In respect of equivalent clause in Essential Qualifications, if a candidate is claiming a particular qualification as equivalent qualification as per the requirement of advertisement, then the candidate is required to produce order/letter in this regard, indicating the Authority (with
    number and date) under which it has been so treated, otherwise the Application is liable to be rejected.
  • The period of experience rendered by a candidate on part time basis, daily wages, visiting/guest faculty will not be counted while calculating the valid experience for these posts.
  • If any document/ certificate furnished is in a language other than Hindi or English, a transcript of the same duly attested by a Gazetted officer or Notary is to be submitted.
  • The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and/or experience shall be the closing date prescribed for submission of Online
    application i.e. 31-05-2021(Monday).
  • The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications prescribed for that Post.
  • Candidate must ensure that he/she possesses essential qualification/experience in the relevant area as required for the post, for which he/she is applying, on the last date of online application.

  • The National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) is a geoscientific research organization established in 1961 under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India’s largest Research and Development organization. It is supported by more than 200 scientists and other technical staff whose research activities are published in several journals of national and international interest.
  • Research areas covered by this institute include hydrocarbon and coal exploration, mineral exploration, deep seismic sounding studies, exploration and management of groundwater resources, earthquake hazard assessment, structure of earth’s interior and its evolution (theoretical studies), geophysical instrument development and geothermal exploration.
  • Laser Ablation Multi-Collector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (LA-MC-ICPMS) with clean chemistry laboratory facility.
  • Mineral Physics Laboratory with high-pressure Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC), ultra high resolution (0.02/cm) double monochorometer, and micro-Raman spectrometer.
  • High-pressure laboratory consisting of Keithly electrometer, strain-measuring sensors, universal testing machine (100 tons), and Bridgeman-Birch high-pressure apparatus.
  • Rock magnetism laboratory consisting of astatic magnetometer, digital spinner magnetometer, alternating magnetic field and thermal demagnetizers, high-field and low-field hysteresis and susceptibility meter.
  • Geochemical laboratory consisting of fully automated X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (XRF), Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICPMS), and Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA).
