General Instruction:

  • No T.A/D.A will be admissible to candidates for the journey and stay during any stage of the recruitment.
  • The select lists confer no right to appointment unless the department is satisfied about suitability of the candidates after a thorough medical examination, checking of essential documents of eligibilities and such enquiry and police verification as may be considered necessary before appointment to the service/posts.

  • On appointment, the candidates shall be governed by the “Assam Civil Defence (Non Gazetted) Service Rules 1991 & Assam Civil Defence (Non Gazetted) Service (Amendment) Rules 1998.”
  • Selected Candidates will be governed by New Pension Rules of the Govt. The selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking as per Finance (B) Department Memo No. BW.3/2003/Pt-II/1, dated 25-01-2005.
  • Selected candidates shall be required to undergo departmental training as may be prescribed and shall pass the departmental training / examination. Any candidate who fails to complete the training or is found unsuitable for the job in any manner during the period of probation will be discharged from service.
  • Provided that the period of probation may for good and sufficient reasons be extended by the Appointing authority for any specified period, not exceeding two years.
  • Provided further that the period of probation may be curtailed or dispensed with in any case for good and sufficient reasons by the Appointing Authority.
  • Fake documents/ false information/ misrepresentation of facts shall lead to rejection when detected at any stage before or after selection/appointment and shall make the candidate liable to criminal proceeding.
  • The final appointment after selection is subject to satisfactory Police Verification Report, all essential documents of eligibility and Final Medical Examination Report
    as per existing norms. In case Police Verification Report or Final Medical Examination Report is found unsatisfactory, the candidature of such candidates will be rejected outright.
  • The rules & regulations, terms & conditions of training and afterwards will be applicable as laid down in the Assam Civil Defence (Non-Gazatted) Service Rules 1991 & Assam Civil Defence (Non-Gazatted) Service (Amendment) Rules 1998.
  • The vacancies shown in the advertisement are subject to changes at the time of final selection/appointment.
  • Canvassing directly or indirectly shall lead to disqualification of the candidate.
  • The appointing authorities should, in the offer of appointment to the candidates claiming to be belonging to EWS, include the following clause:- “The appointment is provisional and is subject to the Income and Asset Certificate being verified through the proper channels and if the verification reveals that the claim to belong to EWS is fake/false the services will be terminated forthwith without assigning any further reasons and without prejudice to such further action as may be taken under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code for production of fake/false certificate.”

Selection Process:

  • Candidates whose applications are found correct in all respects will be called for a written test which will be conducted in all the District Headquarters or Range wise or at Guwahati depending upon the number of candidates. The candidates will have to appear for the Written Test in the district of his/ her permanent residential address/Range or at the centre allotted to him / her by SLPRB. The Chairman reserves the right to change the venue of the test and no representation etc. will be entertained in this regard. Before entering the examination center, biometrics of each candidate will be done.

  • The Assam Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Assam in India. A regular police force was initiated in Assam by the British after the Treaty of Yandaboo to maintain the law and order.It functions under the Department of Home Affairs, Assam. The Headquarters of Assam police is situated at Ulubari in the Capital city Guwahati.
  • Assam Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Assam. The Assam Police is headed by Director General of Police ,the current DGP of Assam Police is Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, IPS
  • Assam Police forces are organized into Police Ranges, headed by an Inspector General of Police (IG) or Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) who control several Police Districts.
  • The Police District is the fulcrum of state police activity and each Police District of the state is headed by a Superintendent of Police (SP). In many states an SP is assisted by one or more additional SPs and DSPs. Generally a Police district is same as a revenue district of a state.
  • The Police District is divided into Police Sub-Divisions and will be under the command of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) or Subdivision Police Officer (SDPO).
  • The Police Sub-Division is made up of one or more Police Circles, and is under the command of an Inspector of Police, often referred to as the Circle Inspector (CI).
  • Under the Police Circles are the police stations, generally under the control of a Sub-Inspector (SI).
  • Assam state police force also maintains its own Reserve Armed police force,Special Armed Police and Armed Police) which is responsible for emergencies and crowd control issues. They are generally activated only on orders from the Rank of DIG and higher-level authorities. The armed constabulary do not usually come into contact with the general public unless they are assigned to VIP duty, Insurgency operation, Riot control or to maintain law and order during fairs, festivals, athletic events, elections, and natural disasters. They may also be sent to quell outbreaks of student or labour unrest, organised crime, and communal riots; to maintain key guard posts; and to participate in anti-terrorist operations. Depending on the type of assignment, the Armed Police force may carry only lathis or lethal weapons.
  • Assam Police also have an Elite Commando Group known as Black Panther equipped with Latest weapons and technology for Anti-Terrorist Operations & VVIP protection.
