General Information:

  • NLC India Limited, a “Navratna” Public Sector Enterprise, Under the Ministry of Coal, invites Online application from eligible Graduate/Diploma holders in Engineering hailing from TamilNadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Kerala, Karnataka and Union territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep (passed during 2017/ 2018/2019/ 2020), for one year Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices(Amendment) Act, 1973
  • A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in relevant discipline.
  • A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline.
  • A Diploma in Engineering or technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government in relevant discipline.
  • A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a University in relevant discipline.
  • Age limit will be followed as per Apprenticeship Rules.
  • Guidelines under Apprentices Act on Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD will be followed. Candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST/OBC/PWD shall provide certificate as per Government standard format, failing which their claim for reservation will be considered as `General’ category only. If BC candidates claiming OBC category, they should bring OBC certificate as per the Govt. prescribed (OBC) format from the certificate issuing authority.
  • Vacancies up to 10% are reserved for wards of PAPs (Project Affected Persons).
  • Wards of PAPs should register and submit their application through the website www.mhrdnats.gov.in
  • Submit a scanned copy of the certificate issued by the LA Department (specimen copy enclosed) indicating their NATS Student Enrollment No. S
    through mail to boateventquery@boat-srp.com on or before 10.11.2020.
  • They have to submit the original certificate issued by the LA Department at the time of joining training at NLC India Limited.
  • In case of non availability of NLC Project Affected Persons Candidates the vacancies will be filled up with other Candidates as per procedure.
  • As prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rule 1992, and amendments thereof if any. VI. DURATION OF TRAINING:
  • The duration of Apprenticeship training will be for a period of one year as per Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973.
  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship under Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973, and/or having one year or more experience are not eligible to apply.
  • Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR) is entrusted with the task of preparation of short list from the online application data. Short listing of candidates will be done based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification as applicable to the respective disciplines. Short listed candidates shall be intimated through their registered Email id. Short listed candidates have to appear for certificate verification at Neyveli (or) Chennai.
  • No TA / DA will be paid for attending certificate verification.
  • No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible during selection process.
    After ioining the training at Neyveli: Clubbed accommodation will be given based on availability as per nominal rent.
  • Upon completion of the Apprenticeship period, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), An under taking of the Govt. of India, shall have no obligation to offer employment to such apprentices nor can an apprentice claim right for employment on the grounds of completion of Apprenticeship.
  • No further communication in this regard will be entertained.
  • Board of Apprenticeship training (SR)/ NLC India Limited has not entrusted / authorized any individual organization to coordinate (or) liaison our work. Candidates beware of touts and our office is not responsible for such unwanted incident.

  • NLC India Limited (NLC) (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) is a ‘Navratna’ government of India company in the fossil fuel mining sector in India and thermal power generation. It annually produces about 30 million tonnes of Lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state. The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3640 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Lately, it has diversified into renewable energy production and installed 1404 MW solar power plant to produce electricity from photovoltaic (PV) cells and 51 MW electricity from windmills.
  • It was incorporated in 1956 and was wholly owned by the government of India. A small portion of its stock was sold to the public to list its shares on stock exchanges where its shares are traded. It is under the administrative control of Ministry of Coal.
  • Lignite Deposit was a chance finding when some ‘brown substance’ gushed out with water in Rao Bahadur M. Jambulingam Mudaliar’s 620 acre own farm artesian well during 1934. He acted swiftly and contacted the then British Raj, which sent Geologists to Neyveli. It was later identified as ‘Lignite’. He generously extended substantial portion of the sprawling land-bank for soil exploration. Through his effort and donated his 620 acres land to the Madras Government.
  • NLCIL has been a forerunner in the country in the energy sector for 62 years, contributing a lion’s share in lignite production and significant share in thermal power generation. It was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1956.
  • NLCIL is a Navratna Government of India Enterprise. A pioneer in the energy sector, NLCIL operates four opencast lignite mines of a total capacity of 30.6 million tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) at Neyveli and Barsingsar, Rajasthan, Six lignite based pithead Thermal Power Stations with an aggregate capacity of 3640 MW – at Neyveli and Barsingsar and a 1000 MW Coal based Thermal Power Station at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu through its subsidiary company, NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL), a joint venture between NLCIL and TANGEDCO (equity participation in the ratio of 89:11). NLCIL recently commissioned a 1×500 MW unit at Neyveli which is also Asia’s largest lignite fired boiler.
  • NLCIL has also forayed into renewable energy sector with commissioning of a 141 MW Solar Photo Voltaic Power Plant including 1 MW Roof-top Project at Neyveli and a 51 MW Wind Energy Plant at Kazhuneerkulam Village of Tirunelveli district in Tamilnadu. The Company is also setting up 1209 MW Solar Power Projects at Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu, of which, 300 MW have been commissioned. NLC is aiming to achieve a total Renewable energy capacity of 4251 MW.
