General Information:

  • Applications are invited for the post of District Judge (Entry Level) in Chhattisgarh Higher Judicial Service, in the pay scale of Rs. 51550-1230- 58930-1380-63070 (New interim pay scale :- in the 13-A pay matrix and pay level of Rs. 131100-216600) in the cadre of Higher Judicial Service by direct recruitment from Bar. Recruitment to these posts and conditions of service shall be governed by the Chhattisgarh Higher Judicial Service (Recruitment and Conditions of Service), Rules 2006, as on the last date of submission of application forms.
  • is a citizen of India,
  • has attained the age of 35 years and has not attained the age of 45 years on the first day of January in the year in which applications for appointment are invited i.e. 01/01/2020, provided that upper
    age limit shall be relaxed upto a maximum limit of 3 years for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • Posses a degree in law of a university established or incorporated by or under a central Act or a State Act or an institution recognized by the U.G.C. or any other equivalent qualification.
  • has for at least seven years been an advocate as on 01/01/2020.In other words, the applicant must be practicing as on 01.01.2020 as an Advocate and must have so practiced for a period of not less than seven year as on such date.
  • has good character and is of sound mind and body and free from any bodily and mental disability which renders him unfit for such appointment.
  • The post reserved for Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes are reserved only for Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes who are the bonafide residents of Chhattisgarh State. The applicants, who are bonafide residents of other states and recognized as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in their own states will be considered only against the unreserved posts.
  • The candidates belonging to OBC category must not come under creamy layer.
  • As there is No vacancy for OBC Category, the candidates belonging to that category may apply under Unreserved Category.
  • In view of Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dated 06/04/2017, 18/08/2017 and 04/07/2019 in the matter of Civil Appeal No.3609 of 2017 (Deepa E.V. Vs. Union of India & Ors.), Civil Appeal No.8351 of 2017 (Gaurav Pradhan & Ors. Vs. State of Rajasthan & Ors.) and Civil Appeal No.5185 of 2019 (Niravkumar Dilipbhai Makwana Vs. Gujrat Public Service Commission & Ors.) respectively, only such SC/ST/OBC candidates who are selected on the same standards as applied to general candidates shall not be adjusted against reserved vacancies.
  • Rs. 700/- for the candidates who are bonafide residents of Chhattisgarh state belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes as notified for the State of Chhattisgarh.
  • Rs. 1000/- for all the candidates belonging to Unreserved Category and for all the candidates who are not the residents of Chhattisgarh state irrespective of their categories.
  • Examination Fee is to be deposited only in the form of Challan with SBI branches through Core Banking Network all over India. Therefore, original copy of Challan must be attached to application
    form. Challan form is available along with application form on our website i.e. www.cghighcourt.nic.in.
  • Fee in the form of Cash, Money Order, Bank Draft or Cheque shall not be accepted in any case and such applications shall be rejected for want of adequate fee.
  • Before sending the challan, the candidates must ensure and be satisfied that there is no default. In case the challan is found defective or incomplete, the application shall be treated as rejected.
  • Fee shall not be refunded in any case.
  • In case of receipt of application after expiry of the last date or in case of rejection of the application the fee shall not be refunded.

  • The Chhattisgarh High Court is one of the new High Court in India. It was established on 1st of November 2000 as a separate High Court for newly created State of Chhattisgarh under the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000 having its jurisdiction over the territories of the state of Chhattisgarh. The High Court of Bilaspur is the 19th High Court of India. The High Court was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.N. Kirpal, Judge Supreme Court of India on 1st of November 2000 in the Presence of Mr. Arun Jaitley, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice and Company Affairs Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhawani Singh Chief Justice of High Court of M.P. and Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.S. Garg, first Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur. It’s new building is situated in Bilaspur at Bodri. The court has sanctioned strength of twenty two judges.
  • Justice R. S. Garg was the first acting Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.The court has a sanctioned judge strength of eighteen.
  • The Maximum strength of the High Court is 22 in which 17 seats for Permanent judges and 5 seats for Additional judges.
