General Information:

  • All candidates are required to apply online. Online submission of application will be allowed on the website up to 23:59 hrs on 10.11.2020 and the online exam will be conducted on 17.11.2020. No other means/mode of application shall be accepted. Candidates are required to visit link provided for filling ONLINE application and fill up the personal details/BIO-DATA, fees etc. carefully. Before filling application online, candidates should keep ready a scanned copy of passport size photograph and signature in jpg/jpeg format (Photo size less than 500 KB and signature size less than 200 KB). Candidates should ensure that the relevant details viz. Name, Date of Birth, Address, etc. entered in application form should be correct.
  • Candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR NET JRF Fellowship exam, and have an active fellowship period, may be allowed to directly appear for the interview of advertised posts, subject to successful verification of documents pertaining to essential qualification of the applied post. The qualification of the UGC-CSIR – NET JRF- Fellowship exam does not entitle a student for direct recruitment for the post or guarantee registration of Ph.D. This exam is deemed to be solely of qualifying in nature, in lieu of the exam conducted by WII. The merit and aptitude of these students will be decided based on their interview. Such candidates are required to apply online compulsorily.
  • The duration of the qualifying test will be 90 minutes. The question paper contains Essay. Qualifying eligibility marks will be as per UGC norms.
  • The fee paid once, will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates should satisfy themselves that they fulfil all the eligibility norms including educational qualification(s) as on date of submission of the application can apply.
  • Candidates are advised to give specific, correct and complete information. STUDENTS APPEARING FOR FINAL YEAR EXAMINATIONS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY. All original certificates/documents in support of information furnished in the application form are to be produced at the time of interview at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, failing which the candidate will be disqualified for appearing in interview. Candidature of the candidates is liable to be rejected at any stage of admission process or after admission, if any information provided by the candidates is found to be false or is not found in conformity with eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.
  • For getting the benefit of reservation under OBC category, the name of caste and community of the candidate must appear in the central list of Other Backward Classes (OBC) available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India website www.ncbc.nic.in. The candidate must not belong to creamy layer. Candidates seeking reservation as OBC, will have to submit at the time of interview, caste certificate,ONLY in the prescribed format issued from the designated authority indicating clearly the candidate’s caste, the Act/Order under which the caste is recognized as OBC and the Village/Town the candidates is ordinarily resident of. The OBC candidates must ensure that they possess the latest Non-Creamy layer certificate issued by designated authority. A certificate containing any variation in the caste name will not be accepted.
  • Applicants/candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 500/- per project.
  • Rs. 45/- extra would be charged as service charges of online payment. Hence the total amount to be paid for registration is Rs. 545/- (Five hundred forty five only)
  • Candidates are required to make application fee payment through debit card/credit card/net-banking (service charges apply for all banks will be borne by the candidates). The candidates will be automatically/redirected to make online payment (wherever fee is applicable) once the form is successfully completed. No other mode of payment will be accepted.
  • Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility before payment of application fee.

  • The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Government of India, was established in 1982.WII carries out wildlife research in areas of study like Biodiversity, Endangered Species, Wildlife Policy, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Forensics, Spatial Modeling, Ecodevelopment, Ecotoxicology, Habitat Ecology and Climate Change. WII has a research facility which includes Forensics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Laboratory, Herbarium, and an Electronic Library.The founder director was V. B. Saharia while the first Director was Hemendra Singh Panwar who remained the director from 1985 to 1994. Trained personnel from WII have contributed in studying and protecting wildlife in India. The national tiger census or the All India Tiger Estimation, is done by WII along with NTCA and state forest departments.
  • The institute is based in Dehradun, India. It is located in Chandrabani, which is close to the southern forests of Dehradun. The campus is 180 acre’s, from which 100 acre’s is in wilderness and 80 acre’s is operational facilities. It is close to Rajaji National Park. The training of the direct recruits of the India Forest Service Officers and also those who are recruited as the State Forest Officers is done here itself.
  • The current director of Wildlife Institute of India is Dhananjai Mohan who was appointed in December 2019. He was formerly Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Planning and Financial Management and Chairman of State Biodiversity Board in Uttarakhand.
