  • A candidate is allowed to apply for only one Trade / Discipline. In case of receipt of more than one application for more than one Trade / Discipline, all the applications will be rejected.
  • Wherever CGPA/OGPA or Letter Grade is awarded in the ITI / Degree examination, its equivalent overall percentage of marks must be indicated in the On-line Application Form as per the norms adopted by University / Institute.
  • The candidature of the applicant would be provisional and subject to subsequent verification of certificates and testimonials. In case, it is detected at any stage of engagement or thereafter, that a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility norms and/or that he/she has furnished any incorrect / doctored / false information / certificate / documents or has suppressed any material fact(s), his/her candidature will stand cancelled. If any of these shortcomings is/are detected even after engagement his/her engagement is liable to be terminated.
  • Engagement of selected candidates is subject to his/her being declared medically fit as per Schedule II of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992. All such engagement will also be subject to all relevant Rules/policies/guidelines of the Corporation.
  • The decision of the Management will be final and binding on all candidates on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the applications, mode of selection, cancellation of the selection process either in part or full, etc. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Filling up of the seats is solely at the discretion of the Management based on suitability of candidates and no claim will arise for engagement, if some of these seats are not filled due to unsuitability/insufficient number of candidates.
  • Applications which are incomplete or received in any other mode/form, or not fulfilling the eligibility criteria and/or those received after the last date of submission of on-line applications shall be treated as “Rejected”. Canvassing of any kind shall disqualify the candidate.
  • Upon completion of the Apprenticeship period the Corporation shall have no obligation to offer employment to such apprentices nor can an Apprentice claim right for employment on the grounds of completion of Apprenticeship.
  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD shall be as per Government guidelines. Candidates seeking relaxation and concession w.r.t. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD have to submit their Caste / Disability Certificate as per the proforma prescribed by the Govt. of India (copy available on our website www.cpcl.co.in)
  • Furnishing false / incorrect information or suppression of material fact(s), if detected at any stage even after engagement, shall invite termination of the training without any notice.

How to Apply:

Vacancy Notice 142 Trade Apprentice Vacancy – CPCL,Chennai (Tamil Nadu)

  • The candidates will have to apply online for the Apprenticeship Training through the website of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited. To apply visit: www.cpcl.co.in. The candidate must possess a valid e-mail ID. The site will be functional from 10:30 hours of 18.10.2020 to midnight of 01.11.2020. Once the candidates submit their data Online, system will display a print option to generate the online Application Form. The candidates will have to download the form and keep it safe with them for future reference and appearing for the verification of their records.

Mode of Selection:

  • The selection will be based on the percentage of marks scored by the candidates in their respective ITI trades / Degree. In case more than one candidate scoring the same percentage of marks at the cut-off level, the marks scored by the candidates in their 10th standard shall be considered. In case the 10th standard marks are also found to be equal then the senior most candidates, based on the date of birth, shall be considered for selection. The selection will be subject to the verification of certificates of the short listed candidates and their medically fitness.
  • The candidate must have an active email ID and Mobile number which must be valid for at least one year as all future communications with candidates will take place through email. Candidates are advised to mention their correct email ID / Mobile number and keep checking their e-mail as all future communication shall be sent only through e-mail.
  • The candidate must ascertain the correctness of all information before filling in the “Online Application Form” and its final submission. The candidate shall be wholly / exclusively responsible for the information provided in his / her online application form.
  • Cut-off date: The candidate must possess the prescribed qualification, age as on 01.10.2020.

About Us:

  • Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) a Group company of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) is an Indian state-owned oil and gas corporation headquartered in Chennai, India. It was formed as a joint venture in 1965 between the Government of India (GOI), AMOCO and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), having a shareholding in the ratio 74%: 13%: 13% respectively. From the grassroots stage CPCL Refinery was set up with an installed capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year in a record time of 27 months at a cost of Rs. 430 million without any time or cost overrun.
  • In 1985, AMOCO disinvested in favour of GOI and the shareholding percentage of GOI and NIOC stood revised at 62% and 15.38% respectively. Later GOI disinvested 16.92% of the paid up capital in favor of Unit Trust of India, mutual funds, insurance companies and banks on 19 May 1992, thereby reducing its holding to 67.7%. The public issue of CPCL shares at a premium of Rs. 70 (Rs. 90 to FIIs) in 1994 was oversubscribed to an extent of 27 times and added a large shareholder base of over 90000. As a part of the restructuring steps taken up by the Government of India, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) acquired equity from GOI in 2000-01. Currently IOC holds 51.88% while NIOC continued its holding at wax and petrochemical feedstocks production facilities.
  • CPCL plays the role of a mother industry supplying feedstocks to the neighbouring industries in Manali. CPCL’s products are marketed through IOCL. CPCL’s products are mostly consumed domestically except naphtha, fuel oil and lubes which are partly exported.
  • CPCL has also made pioneering efforts in the field of energy and water conservation by setting up a wind farm and sewage reclamation and sea water desalination plants.
  • The crude throughput for 2016-17 was 10.256 million metric tonnes (MMT). The company’s turnover for 2016-17 was Rs.40586 crores and the profit after tax was Rs.1030 crores & the crude throughput for 2017-18 was 10.789 million metric tonnes (MMT). The company’s turnover for 2018-19 was Rs.52201 crores and the loss after tax was Rs.213.36 crores.
