General Information:

  • Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up following positions against the DBT funded project entitled “Socio-economic upliftment of landless and marginal farmers of Yadgir district (an aspirational district) of Karnataka through goat rearing” at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad.
  • Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration (MBA) / Veterinary Sciences (MVSc) / MSc (Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology)
  • Non-NET-qualified candidates with post graduate degree in above mentioned disciplines can also apply; who will be paid as per DST guidelines.
  • Candidate having experience of working on socio-economic aspect of rural development will be given preference.
  • Age: 35 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government instructions) Fellowship amount: Rs. Rs 35,000 + 24 % HRA as per the DST guidelines.
  • Candidate with experience in Molecular biology/Genomics/Genome sequencing/Animal Genetics and breeding/ Nanotechnology will be given preference.
  • Intermediate with Diploma in animal husbandry or veterinary sciences / BSc (Agriculture/Life Sciences)
  • Desired Experience: Candidate with experience in Animal Handling, Animal Breeding and management with ability to speak English, Kannada, Hindi and Telugu will be given preference.
  • Fellowship amount: Rs. 20,000/-PM + 24% HRA as per the DST guidelines.

  • The National Institute of Animal Biotechnology is an Indian autonomous research establishment of the Department of Biotechnology,Ministry of Science and Technology (India). The NIAB is been set up in Hyderabad, India, under the leadership of Prof. Pallu Reddanna.”The state of the art of Animal Biotechnology and Transgenics institute” is housed in the Aryabhata Block of the sprawling University of Hyderabad in Gachibowli.
  • The primary mandate of NIAB is towards the development of sustainability and globally competitive livestock (farm animals) for public and industry through innovative and cutting edge technology. There will emphasis on showing excellence in production of globally competitive livestock products, pharmaceuticals (medicines), nutritional products and other biologicals related to animal health care.
  • The main focus of NIAB will be to nurture the bio-entrepreneurship in the animal biotechnology field and to perform hard core translational research involving livestock and beneficial to mankind. There will be research laboratories of various disciplines e.g. Genomics, Nutrition enrichment, transgenic technology, infectious diseases and Reproductive biotechnology. NIAB will conduct teaching and research program of M.Sc. and Ph.D. to train young scientists. Dr. Subeer S. Majumdar took charge as new director since 1 August 2016.
