General Information:

  • Applications are invited by the Director, JIPMER from eligible Indian candidates for filling up of posts of SENIOR RESIDENT in the following disciplines on Ad-hoc Basis for JIPMER, Puducherry for a period of 89 days (may be extended up to maximum of 6 months depend upon requirement).
  • Please visit www.jipmer.edu.in regularly for latest notifications/announcements and any Addendum/Dedendum/Corrigendum/Latest updates etc. as these will be uploaded only on the JIPMER website.
  • Not exceeding 45 years as on 26-04-2021 with usual relaxation as per rules.
  • The candidates with Postgraduate Medical Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India will be paid B/Pay Rs.67,700 (Level -11, Cell-1) (Revised) and other usual allowances per month (Total Rs.1,10,000/-approximately).
  • Crucial date for determination of eligibility with regards to age and educational qualification etc. will be on 26-04-2021.
  • To be eligible for selection, the candidate should complete all the requirements for the qualifying degree (e.g. passing the exam ination and completing the mandatory period of work, if any) by 26-04-2021 & the results should be declared to this effect on or before this date.
  • Those who does not fulfill any of the above conditions need not apply. Mere permission to appear in the examination or interview does not imply any determination of final eligibility.
  • Rs. 500 for General (UR), OBC & EWS candidates and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates. Kindly note that the bank may charge an additional service charge for making online payment. The application fee once remitted will not be refunded at any circumstances.
  • A written Examination based on MCQs in the subject concerned will be conducted for eligible candidates followed by personal interview.
  • Qualified candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their written test marks. List of short listed candidates will be displayed in our notice board on the same day. In this regard, this Institute reserves the right to take the final decision.
  • Selection process for the post of Senior Resident will include a written examination (80%) and personal interview (20%).
  • If candidate is employed under the State or Central Govt. or PSU/Autonomous body, applicants are required to produce NOC from competent authority, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for interview under any circumstances.
  • The Ad-hoc engaged persons will not have any claim for permanent or regular employment in this Institute as this is purely an Ad-hoc engagement and will remain valid up to Ad-hoc period for which the engagement is approved.
  • The Ad-hoc appointment is full time basis and private practice of any type is prohibited.
  • The Ad-hoc engaged persons will not be eligible to get official accommodation/quarters allotment within the campus of JIPMER, Puducherry as applicable to the other regular employees of this Institute.

  • The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a medical school located at Pondicherry, the capital of the Union Territory of Puducherry, in India. JIPMER is an Institute of National Importance (INI) and a tertiary care referral hospital that is under the direct administrative control of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with autonomyto run its internal administration.
  • JIPMER, spread over a campus of 195 acres (0.79 km2), has over 300 faculty members, over 700 resident physicians and over 3,000 nursing, administrative and support staff. Every year, it admits 150 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students.
  • The erstwhile French India established the Ecole de Medicine de Pondichery to train French citizens in Pondichéry.It was one of the earliest institutions of tropical medicine and the teaching staff consisted of surgeons and doctors of the French navy and troupes colones. Students who were trained here were granted a diploma called Médicin Locale that allowed them to practice medicine in the colonial territories. The college then was located in the heart of the Pondicherry, opposite Le place de Gaulle, which is now the Legislative Assembly Hall.
  • Following the de jure transfer of Puducherry to India in 1956, the Government of India took over the college and renamed it as Medical College, Pondicherry. For a short period, this was also called the Dhanvantri Medical College.
  • The campus contains the medical college, the old and new hospital blocks, student and resident hostels, staff quarters, a Kendriya Vidyalaya, a branch each of two nationalised banks, two ATM’s, a post office, a temple, an auditorium – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam JIPMER Auditorium, playgrounds and sporting fields. Broad tree-lined roads crisscross the campus and the lush tropical vegetation forms a green canopy that hides most buildings on campus.
