General Information:

  • The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute plans to engage various project personnel (Indian national only). All engagements are purely on a contractual basis, initially for one-year period from the date of engagement that can be extended depending on the candidate’s performance, programme needs and the project duration. The number of positions, work description, essential and desirable qualifications, age limit and the consolidated monthly emoluments are given in Annexure 1.
  • Relaxation in upper age limit shall be allowed in accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) OM No.1501282/2010-Ezstt.(D) dated 27.03.2012 as amended from time to time. However, the categories of upper age relaxations are as follows:- (a) Scheduled Castes and Schedules Tribes upto 5 years.(b) Other Backward Class (OBC) upto 3 years.
  • The selection will be made on the basis of online written test followed by personal interview. Candidates should submit their applications online as per details/link given on the Institute’s website www.wii.gov.in on or before 30.04.2019. Each candidate can apply at the most for two positions only.Application fees of Rs. 500 will have to be deposited online for each application. Payment can be made via Internet Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card through our online secured payment gateway. The date of online written examination is 12th May, 2019 and personal interview will start on 13th May, 2019 at 10.00 hrs which may continue upto 14th May, 2019.
  • The online written test will be held at Dehra Dun and the personal interview will be conducted at the WII in its campus. No TA/DA will be given for attending the written test or the personal interview. For the personal interview, the short listed candidates should bring the duly filled-in application with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, Ph.D. thesis along with certificate of extracurricular activities, date of birth, mark sheets of all examinations etc. All original
    documents/certificates must be produced at the time of personal interview for verification.
  • The written test will be of one-hour duration with 60 objective type questions of one mark each (Total 60 marks) covering subjects related to wildlife conservation, wetlands and aquatic species. This will be followed by a personal interview of 40 marks.Based on the merit list of written examination, only first top six candidates for each position will be called for personal interview. The final selection of the candidate will be based on performance in written as well as in the interview and in order of merit as decided by the Selection Committee.
  • The decision of the Institute Screening Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience,acceptance or rejection of application, mode of selection will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual or his/her agency. At the time of the verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.

  • All eligible interested candidates are advised to follow the latest updates on the WII’s website (www.wii.gov.in) for online registration, submission of application and payment of application processing fee, etc.
  • Candidates will be required to fill in their personal, educational and professional experience profiles online besides uploading a recent passport size photograph. Candidates will make the payment of application processing fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) through the prescribed “Payment Gateway”. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and Physically Challenged category need to pay only Rs.
    100/- as communication fees.
  • Candidates must mention the Project name and Position applied for in their applications.
  • Candidates can apply for maximum of two positions in any project and pay the fee for each positions.

  • WII carries out wildlife research in areas of study like Biodiversity, Endangered Species, Wildlife Policy, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Forensics, Spatial Modeling, Ecodevelopment, Habitat Ecology and Climate Change. WII has a research facility which includes Forensics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Laboratory, Herbarium, and an Electronic Library.[1] The founder director was V. B.   • The institute is based in Dehradun, India. It is located in Chandrabani, which is close to the southern forests of Dehradun.The campus is 180 acre’s, from which 100 acre’s is wilderness and 80 acre’s is of institution.
