Haldia Dock Complex, Kolkata Port Trust intends to fill up 02 vacancies of Chief Engineer (number of vacancies may increase) and 02 vacancies of Engineer-In-Charge , both through direct recruitment, under Marine Operations Division of Haldia Dock Complex, as per the following eligibility criteria
Eligibility Criteria :
Name of the Post : Chief Engineer
Qualification : 1st Class MOT (Combined or Motor) Certificate (or equivalent).
Age : Not exceeding 45 years (As on 01/05/2012).
Experience : Experience of working as Chief Engineer of sea-going vessel for atleast 2 years.
Scale of Pay : Rs.32900-58000/-.
Name of the Post : Engineer-In-Charge
Qualification : Inland Engineers’ Certificate or 2nd Class MOT Certificate (or equivalent).
Age : Not exceeding 35 years (As on 01/05/2012).
Experience : Experience of working as Watch Keeping Engineer on board a vessel for atleast 3 years.
Scale of Pay Rs.20600-46500/-.

About the organization:
An ambitious investment programme has been embarked in the 11th Five Year Plan at Kolkata Port, for development and expansion of the port in order to handle increasing EXIM trade in the country. The projects / investment programme, finalized in terms of internal policies/programmes, long term Perspective Plans, etc include construction of Multipurpose Berths / Riverine Jetties, with improvement of back-end facilities; integrated development of infrastructure facilities including augmentation of road / rail connectivity and improved storage / yard logistics; induction of state-of-the-art equipment, such as Mobile Harbour Cranes, Pay Loaders, Rail Mounted Quay Cranes, Reach Stackers, Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes, Tractor-Trailers, etc., aimed at realisation of improved berth productivity, upgradation of VTMS, procurement of Survey-cum-Pilotage Craft, replacement of Tugs, Dredger, Locomotives, River Regulatory Measures for improvement of draft at Hooghly estuary, Comprehensive improvement of Information Technology (IT), EDI etc.At Haldia, two Berths, viz., Berth no. 2 (cost Rs.46.80 crores) and Berth no. 13 (cost Rs.39.56 crores) have been commissioned in June 2007 and December 2007 respectively. Construction of two riverine jetties outside the impounded lock at a cost of Rs. 146 crs. are also being taken up.Works are in progress for improvement of infrastructural facilities at Kolkata Port, at a cost of around Rs.150 crores viz. development of berths, yards, sheds, augmentation of railway yards, etc. and development of roads including parking facility, which are principally aimed at faster aggregation/dispersal of cargo. Improvement of back up area with railway connectivity inside the dock at Kolkata Port, at a cost of Rs.34 crore, has attained completion.
