Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. intends to hire Linemen for purely on contract basis
1. Lineman on contract basis : 5000 posts
Pay: Rs.10,000/- consolidated per month
Age : 18 to 37 years as on 1.1.2011. Upper age limit is relaxable as admissible under rules/ instructions of PSPCL/PSTCL/ Punjab Govt
Qualification : i) Matriculation or equivalent qualification and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Lineman Trade. ii) The candidates who possess higher education as Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Degree pass will be considered only if they have minimum qualifications as National Apprenticeship Certificate in Lineman Trade. iii) The candidates who have passed successfully National Apprenticeship Training Certificate test in the trade of Lineman. iv) The candidates must have done 2 years Apprenticeship in PSPCL/ PSTCL or erstwhile PSEB. Knowledge of Punjabi : The candidates must have passed Punjabi atleast upto Matric Standard by last date of application. In case of November, 1984 riots affected Sikh migrant candidates, relaxation is allowed to pass examination within two years from the date of joining this post.

General Instructions:
i The PSPCL reserves the right to modify / alter the above mode of hiring as well as decrease / increases the number of posts advertised without any notice. PSPCL reserves the right to call the final selected candidates once put up on the merit list, as per the number of actual vacancies available.
ii The candidate must possess the prescribed qualifications as per para-4 and 5 including 2 years Apprenticeship in PSPCL and reservation certificate upto the last date of online registration. The candidates whose results have been officially and publically declared till the last date of online registration shall only be eligible to apply. The candidates possessing the qualifications higher than the prescribed one will be considered only if they possess the minimum prescribed qualifications.
iii Candidates serving in any department including PSPCL/PSTCL will be required to submit ” No Objection Certificate” through their Heads of Departments if selected, before offer of appointment for the above post is issued to the candidate, failing which his/her candidature is liable to be rejected.
iv No service benefit of any nature of previous service rendered in any department (other than PSPCL) will be admissible. The selected candidates will be governed by PSPCL Rules & Regulations.
v Candidates are advised to keep the E-mail ID to be entered compulsorily in the online application form and which should remain active for atleast 6 months, and no change in the E-mail ID will be allowed once entered. vi In case of any ambiguity/ dispute or interpretation, decision of the PSPCL shall be final and binding on the candidate. Legal jurisdiction shall be subject to Local Courts at Patiala only.
vii No manual/ paper application will be entertained.
viii The qualification, passing of Punjabi and certificates in support of reservation of posts must have been obtained on or before the last date of registration of applications. Any certificate issued after this date shall not be entertained. Candidate shall submit the attested copy of these certificates/ documents at the time of checking of original document.
ix The selected candidates can be placed/posted in PSPCL or PSTCL or any other organization such as BBMB etc against the vacant posts of Lineman or SSA or any other post deemed fit by management.
x The period of contract shall be of 2 years. The selected candidates shall undergo training of 4 months in various organizations/installations of PSPCL/PSTCL and in technical training Institute of PSPCL at Patiala or other places. On successful completion of training of 4 months, they shall be allowed to continue for the balance contract period. In case the work & conduct of the selected candidates during training period is not satisfactory, their services shall be terminated immediately.
xi Lump sum emoluments of Rs.10,000/- per month shall be paid as cost to the company. No other pay/allowances shall be paid. The deductions as per relevant rules and regulations of Govt. shall be made form the same.

In exercise of the Power conferred by article -45 of the Articles of Association of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd.and all other Powers enabling him on this behalf, Governor of Punjab is appoint the following Chairman cum Managing Directors and Directors of the above Corporations with immediate effect. The appointment will be initialy for a period of one year from the date of joining:-The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) was a statutory body formed on 1-2-1959 under the Electricity Supply Act.1948. Subsequently with the re-organization of the erstwhile State of Punjab under the Punjab Re-organization Act 1966 this form came into existence w.e.f. 1st May, 1967. Starting with the modest installed capacity of 62 MW, the PSEB grew up by leaps and bounds with generating capacity 6841 MW as on 31-3-2009 from all sources, including share from Central Sector Projects. The Board’s gross generation during the year2008-09 was 38880 Million Units. PSEB operated its own Generation Power Plants and also got power as its share from BBMB. The PSEB also constructed and maintained its Transmission and Distribution system for providing efficient services to the various categoriesof electricity consumers in the state. PSEB proudly serving more than 66.31 lakhs consumers comprising of approximate 54.86 lakhs.General, 1.12 lakhs Industrial and 10.33 lakhs Agricultural connections till 31.3.2009 All the power Stations operated at their best ever plant load factor since their installation. Net Power generated during 2008-09 is 37222 Million units, which is more than 2006-07 by 2238 Million Units resulting of 6.40% increase in two years. The 1980 MW (3×660) Talwandi Sabo Power Project awarded to M/s Sterlite Energy Ltd. Mumbai on 4.7.08 and PPA signed on 1.9.08. Power purchase agreement with M/S GVK for installing 2×270 MW thermal power station at Goindwal Sahib signed on 26th May, 2009.The foundation stone has been laid and the company has started the construction. Second stage of Lehra Mohabbat Thermal Power Station for 2×250 MW has been commissioned. Its Unit-III achieved CoD on 16.10.08 and Unit-IV synchronized on 2.8.08 on coal. 4.76 lakh new connections including 61849 No. tubewell connections were released during 2007-09. 24 Hrs. Urban pattern supply made available to 12428 villages and 6158 Deras/ Dhanies with 5 or more houses. To help SC & BPL consumers, free monthly consumption up to 200 units allowed for connected load of 1000 watts w.e.f. 12-10-06 instead of earlier 500 watts. Strict measures have been taken to reduce power theft. Disciplinary action taken against the erring employees and 5 numbers Anti Power Theft Police Stations have been set up. New technologies like electronic meters, remote control of transformers, remote meter reading and HVDS system for AP/ Industries introduced. 20.29 lakh meters out of 55.98 lakh General/ Industrial Consumers shifted out of their premises as on 31.3.09 to curb theft of energy. All these measures have helped in reducing losses by 4% from 23.92% (2006-07) to 19.91% (2008-09) / which resulted in substantial increase in revenue. During 2007-09, 62 numbers New Grid substations erected and capacity at 132 number Grid substations augmented besides addition of 1070 circuit Kms. Transmission line and 149 MVAR shunt capacitors to State Grid.
