Cochin Shipyard Limited, invites applications for appointment to the following positions on Contract Basis for IAC Project

1. Semi Skilled Welder on Contract Basis : 50 Posts
Qualification icon razz Recruitment of Semi Skilled Welder  & Semi Skilled Structural Fitter in Cochin Shipyard Limited ass in SSLC, ITI (NTC) in Welder and National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).

2. Semi Skilled Structural Fitters on Contract Basis : 24 Posts
Qualification : Pass in SSLC, ITI (NTC) in the trades of Sheet Metal Worker/ Fitter and National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

Renumeration : Consolidated pay of Rs. 6750/-pm

Age : Not exceed 30 years as on 27 Jun 2011 relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD

How to apply : Walk in interview will be conducted from 0900 Hrs to 1500 hrs on 08th & 09th July 2011 at Cochin Shipyard Indoor Stadium, Thevara. Candidates meeting the requirements will only be shortlisted and they need to attend a practical test on the same day or on a later date as fixed by the Shipyard.

General Instructions:
i) Govt. of India guidelines on reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates as applicable will be followed.
ii) Shipyard reserves the right to stipulate a minimum mark in the qualifying examination in order to reduce the number of candidates to be called for interview/practical test.
iii) Experience obtained after acquiring the qualification will only be considered. Applicants meeting the eligibility requirements and short listed only will be allowed to appear for Interview/test. Candidates are advised to make sure that they are meeting the eligibility requirements to attend the interview.
iv) Candidates should bring original certificates towards proof of age, qualification, experience, caste etc and attested copies, and their candidature will be considered on the strength of those certificates. If at any stage it is found that any information furnished is false/incorrect or the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the candidature/appointment is liable to be cancelled/rejected. No correspondence regarding the rejection of candidature in case of ineligibility will be entertained.
v) The vacancies are purely on contract basis for a specific period of one year and Cochin Shipyard is not liable to offer appointment during or after the completion of contract period of the selected candidates.
vi) No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview/practical test.
vii) The number of vacancies indicated will not necessarily be filled up and will be based on suitability of candidates and availability of projects and job requirement.
viii) Candidates employed in Govt. / Semi Govt. / Autonomous bodies should bring No Objection Certificate from their employer failing which they will not be permitted to
attend the interview.
ix) Those fulfilling age, prescribed qualification and experience may attend the walk- in – interview at Cochin Shipyard Indoor Stadium, Thevara on 08th & 09th Jul 2011 between 0900 Hrs to 1500 hrs. The candidates should bring the following. a) Filled in Application in the prescribed format given in our web site www.cochinshipyard.com b) Two copies of recent passport size photographs. c) Original Certificates and testimonials, in proof of age/date of birth, educational qualifications, experience etc and attested copies of the certificates. d) Caste certificate in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ Non-creamy layer certificate in the case of OBC and Disability Certificate issued by the Medical Board in the case of Persons with Disabilities. Only those candidates who have passed SSLC and ITI in the relevant trade and in possession of National Apprenticeship certificate need attend the interview. Applicants without the certificates will not be allowed to attend the interview.

About the organization:
Cochin Shipyard was conceived of in the year 1969 when a team surveyed various locations in India before selecting Cochin for the launch of the first Greenfield Shipbuilding Yard in the country. The yard facilities in the first phase were completed by 1982. The yard was designed and constructed under technical collaboration with M/s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (M.H.I), Japan. The company was legally incorporated in the year 1972. The yard commenced the shipbuilding operations in 1978, shiprepair in 1981, Marine Engineering Training in 1993 and Offshore Upgradation in 1999. Cochin Shipyard’s recent success in securing export orders have been achieved through consistent improvement in productivity and also aggressive marketing undertaken in the last few years . The yard could reduce the average time of construction of large ships in the last decade through augmentation of facilities, upgradation of ship design department with installation of Tribon and CAD/CAM software and adoption of Integrated Hull Outfitting and Painting system (IHOP) system of construction. The shipyard commenced ship repair operations in the year 1982 and has undertaken repairs of all types of vessels including upgradation of ships of oil exploration industry as well as periodical lay up repairs and life extension of ships of Navy, UTL, Coast Guard, Fisheries and Port Trust besides merchant fleet. The yard has, over the years, developed adequate capabilities to handle complex and sophisticated repair jobs. CSL has established tie-ups with select specialist firms from near-east, far-east, South-east, Europe and USA for technology transfer & material packages for shipbuilding, shiprepair, platforms, rigs & upgradation of yard facilities Cochin Shipyard was incorporated in the year 1972 as a fully owned Government of India company. In the last three decades the company has emerged as a forerunner in the Indian Shipbuilding & Shiprepair industry. This yard can build and repair the largest vessels in India. It can build ships upto 1,10,000 DWT and repair ships upto 1,25,000 DWT. The yard has delivered two of India’s largest double hull Aframax tankers each of 95,000 DWT . CSL has secured shipbuilding orders from internationally renowned companies from Europe & Middle East and is nominated to build the country’s first indigenous Air Defense Ship. Shipyard commenced ship repair operations in the year 1982 and has undertaken repairs of all types of ships including upgradation of ships of oil exploration industry as well as periodical lay up repairs and life extension of ships of Navy, UTL, Coast Guard, Fisheries and Port Trust besides merchant ships of SCI & ONGC. The yard has, over the years, developed adequate capabilities to handle complex and sophisticated repair jobs. The Shipyard also trains graduate engineers to marine engineers who later join ships both Indian and foreign as 5th Engineers. 100 are trained every year.
