5 Age limit : Preferably below 55 years
6 Educational and other Qualifications :
An eminent scholar having post-graduate degree in relevant/ related discipline and preferably a Doctorate and published work of high quality with active engagement in research work. 10 years’ experience of teaching and/or research. Experience of guiding research at doctoral level will be desirable. Or
An outstanding scholar of high repute who has made significant contribution to knowledge

(i)Eminent Librarian/Scholar with Ph.D/M.Lib Science and Research Work and publications
(ii)Fifteen years experience in Library/ies of repute of which atleast eight years should be in the scale of Rs.12000-375-18,000(pre-revised) or above

How to apply : The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) was established in 1987 as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, as a centre for research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of the arts. The Arts’ encompass a wide range of subjects – from archaeology and anthropology to the visual and performing arts, enveloping them in a complementary and non-demarcated vision. General Instructions:
1. An eminent scholar having post‐graduate degree in relevant/ related discipline and preferably a Doctorate and published work of high quality with active engagement in research work. 10 years’ experience of teaching and/or research. Experience of guiding research at doctoral level will be desirable.
2. An outstanding scholar of high repute who has made significant contribution to knowledge
3. The appointment will be on contract, initially for a period of three years extendable/renewable for further periods Professors and persons holding analogous posts in Universities/Academic Institutions/Research Institutions will be eligible to come on contract.
4. Professor (Sanskrit, Classical and Modern Indian Languages) has to work as Head of Division of Kalakosa Division in the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts – and it is a Research and Publication Division that endeavours to place the arts within the integral framework of a cultural system, combining the textual with oral, the visual with the aural, and theory with practice.
5. The Indian arts, both in theory and practice, are branches of a single unified living tree of Indian Culture. They are sustained by, and in turn nurture, other dimensions of life.
6. The world view has crystalised in some fundamental concepts, which reflect the understanding of the cosmos, of space and time, of the centre and peripheral, of the part and the whole, of body, senses and the mind. Kalakosa Division is committed to explore these fundamental concepts which reflect a holistic vision, characteristic of the Indian world view, but whose survival is today threatened by narrow specialization.
7. It works towards identifying primary concepts, fundamental to the Indian world view, which have permeated all disciplines and dimensions of life, bringing to light primary textual source material hitherto unknown, unpublished
8. inaccessible both in the original language as also translation, and placing before future generations the works of the savants who have been pioneers in giving direction and light for comprehending the artistic traditions through a holistic vision, cross cultural contexts, and multi‐disciplinary methodology.

About the organization:
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) was established in 1987 as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, as a centre for research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of the arts. The Arts’ encompass a wide range of subjects – from archaeology and anthropology to the visual and performing arts, enveloping them in a complementary and non-demarcated vision. In its functioning, the IGNCA has met its mandate and continues to work in this direction. The IGNCA has six functional units – Kala Nidhi, the multi-form library; Kala Kosa, devoted mainly to the study and publication of fundamental texts in Indian languages; Janapada Sampada, engaged in lifestyle studies; Kaladarsana, the executive unit which transforms researches and studies emanating from the IGNCA into visible forms through exhibitions; Cultural Informatics Lab, which applies technology tools for cultural preservation and propagation; and Sutradhara, the administrative section that acts as a spine supporting and coordinating all the activities. The Member Secretary is the Executive head of both academic and administrative divisions. The IGNCA has a trust (Board of Trustees), which meets regularly to give general direction about the Centre’s work. The Executive Committee, drawn from among the Trustees, functions under a Chairman. The Committee acts as a link between the Trust and the IGNCA.he Southern Regional Centre was established in 2001 at Bangalore. This was primarily with a view to expand research activities in South India. The suggestion to start SRC came up during a brainstorming session at Delhi and was later approved by the Executive Committee. The move received a boost by the active support and initiative of the former Hon. Union Minister Sri Ananth Kumar, former Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri S.M. Krishna.
