Applications are invited from dynamic and forward looking Indian citizens for the following Teaching and Non-Teaching positions for appointment on Regular / Contract basis in Sikkim University :
Teaching Positions (Regular): in the Departments of Social Systems and Anthropology; (ii)Psychology; (iii) Economic Studies and Planning; (iv) Geography and Natural Resources Management; (v) Asian Languages (Chinese); (vi) Nepali Language and Literature; (vii) Hindi Language and Literature; (viii) Physical Sciences ; (ix) Chemical Sciences; (x) Mathematics and Statistics; (xi) Microbiology; (xii) Law and Legal Jurisprudence Studies; (xiii) Peace and Conflict Studies and Management; (xiv) International Relations/Politics; (xv) Floriculture and Horticulture Management; (xvi) Journalism and Mass Communication; (xvii) Earth Sciences; (xviii) School of Policy Planning and Studies; (xix) Ethno-Botany and Social Medicine Studies; (xx) Music; (xxi) Management and Commerce; and (xxii) Computer Sciences & Applications.
Teaching Position (Contractual): Assistant Professor in English Language for English remedial classes on contractual basis.

How to Apply : Interested scholars with strong sense of commitment to build a new institution of international standard may apply with all documents and processing fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST/DA candidates) addressed to the Registrar, Sikkim University, 6th Mile, P.O. I) Relaxation in age, educational qualifications, experience, etc. in the case of reserved categorieswill be given as per rules.
II) Reservation position: As per rules, reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST)is applicable for the posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor
III) Persons already in service should apply through proper channel.
IV) No lien will be entertained for any position except for non-regular positions. This means theselected candidate has to join after resigning from the previous service and without any encumbrances.
V) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
VI) The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same doesnot entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in responseto an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates, theUniversity at its discretion may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit on the basis ofqualifications/experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
VII) Besides the interview by the Selection Board the candidates will have to undergo writtentest/skill test wherever applicable.
VIII) Candidates who are applying for the posts of Associate Professor and Professor must fill up thescore-sheet of API (Academic Performance Indicators), which is attached at the end of the ApplicationForm. Applications without API score-sheets will be rejected.
IX) No correspondence will be entertained in this regard and the candidates are requested to checkthe University website for any related information.

About the organization:
Sikkim University, a Central University, was established under an Act of Parliament of India and came into existence on 2 July 2007. Unlike in other states, there was no Government University in Sikkim. The establishment of a Central University, fully funded by the Government of India, in Sikkim, fulfils a long cherished aspiration of the people of Sikkim and the entire Eastern Himalayan region to have a higher institution of learning.Sikkim is peaceful, accessible and gifted with a rich natural location. By developing strengths in congruence with the natural and cultural affluence of Sikkim, the University is expected to contribute substantively to the nation building process by mobilizing the rich intellectual heritage of the region.
