The official export inspection and certification body of India established under Export (Quality Control & Inspection) Act, 1963 under Ministry of Commerce & Industry, needs professionals for appointment in Export Inspection Agencies having Head Offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Chennai and Kolkata with a network of 29 Sub-Offices including laboratories and invites applications for the posts as mentioned below in the prescribed format by 15th May, 2012 :-

HOW TO APPLY : The Candidates fulfilling the above requirements may send their applications in the prescribed format along with application fee of Rs.500/- by Demand Draft / Pay Order drawn in favour of ‘Export Inspection Council of India’ payable at Delhi to the Additional Director, Export Inspection Council of India, 3rdFloor, NDYMCA Cultural Centre Building, 1 Jai Singh Road, New Delhi-110 001 Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/Women/Ex-servicemen/EIC/EIADepartmental candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. Candidates applying for more than one Post should apply separately quoting the post applied for along with an application fee of Rs.500/- (wherever applicable).
i) Candidates already employed in Central / State Govt. Departments / Public Sector / Govt. Undertakings are required to apply through proper channel. In order to avoid delay, applications may also be sent directly. However, in such a case, they have to produce a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer at the time of their interview.
ii ) Eligible employees of EIC / EIAs can also apply.
iii ) The candidates must write his/her name as it appears in the SSC/Matriculate Certificate. For change of name after SSC/ Matriculation, if any, documentary evidence should be attached.
iv) P hotocopies of relevant documents in support of age, qualifications, experience and caste certificate issued by the Competent Authority must be enclosed with the application.
v ) Separate applications are required for each post. The post applied for must be super scribed on the envelope. The candidates finally selected for the posts mentioned above are eligible for posting in any activity at any of the offices of EIC / EIAs at the sole discretion of the Competent Authority.
v i) Right for calling the candidate for interview is reserved with the Competent Authority and only the short-listed eligible candidates would be called for interview. No correspondence in this regard would be entertained.
vii) SC/ST Candidates shall be eligible for reimbursement of to & fro rail fare as per Rules, if called for interview.
viii) Incomplete applications and applications received after the due date shall not be entertained.

About the organization:
The Export Inspection Council (EIC) was set up by the Government of India under Section 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963 (22 of 1963), in order to ensure sound development of export trade of India through Quality Control and Inspection and for matters connected thereof. EIC is an advisory body to the Central Government, which is empowered under the Act to: Notify commodities which will be subject to quality control and/ or inspection prior to export, Establish standards of quality for such notified commodities, and Specify the type of quality control and / or inspection to be applied to such commodities. Besides its advisory role, the Export Inspection Council, also exercises technical and administrative control over the five Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs), one each at Channai, Delhi, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai established by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, under Section 7 of the Act for the purpose of implementing the various measures and policies formulated by the Export Inspection Council of India. Export Inspection Council, either directly or through Export Inspection Agencies, its field organisation renders services in the areas of: Certification of quality of export commodities through installation of quality assurance systems (In-process Quality Control and Self Certification) in the exporting units as well as consignment wise inspection. Certification of quality of food items for export through installation of Food safety Management System in the food processing units. Issue of Certificates of origin to exporters under various preferential tariff schemes for export products. Under the Export Quality Control & Inspection Act, 1963, the Council, which is constituted by the Central Government, is the apex body, and has powers to constitute specialist committees to assist it in discharge of its functions. Accordingly, the Council has constituted Administrative Committee to advise it on administrative matters and a Technical Committee to advise it on technical matters. Besides, it has created some Standing Committees in specific technical areas as given below :
